Early Times Report
Basohli, Sept 13:- A large number of people hailing from Basohli today assembled at Bus stand and staged huge protest demonstration against local administration alleging that 40 years old shops have been dismantled by local administration without issuing the prior notice to shop keepers.
Subhash Chander, Ajit Kumar, Ram Swaroop, Rama Devi and many others lambasted on Adl DC Sanjay Gupta who led the team that demolished dozens of shops near Bus stand Basohli without prior notice. They informed that shopkeepers have been running their business for 40 years. They have all revenue documents but administration suddenly demolished the shops without granting time even to lift the goods. They demanded strict inquiry against Addl. DDC and appealed PM, Governor and DDC Kathua to intervene.
Anil Sharma, President BAR Basohli informed that Local administration crushed democracy, misused its power to press downtrodden section of the town. He informed that the land legally belonged to shopkeepers. If the administration had any documentary proof against stake holders, they should have issued notice to shopkeepers, allotted time to vacate the land.
Sharma informed that sufficient opportunity must be given to Rehriwalas too as they duly paid regular rent of the place occupied by them. He demanded justice for the owners of the shops and rehriwalas.
When contacted, Tehsildhar Basohli, Gourav Sharma said that the action was a part of anti-encroachment drive. He informed that few people claimed the land but DDC kathua personally intervened in the case and constituted a committee that would submit its report within 10 days.
