Avinash Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 15: MLA Raipur Domana Constituency, Bali Bhagat who served three years as Minister prior to being expelled from the cabinet by BJP high command, got constructed GDC Paloura in his constituency by spending crores of rupees, forgot to construct a bridge that connects the campus with mainroad. Moreover, ignorance on the part of the then Minister and now MLA forced commuters to go through the 'un safe' bridge over Ranbir Canal, in Mishriwala area escaping tragedy which certainly will take place a day. Further escaping any accountability, the Flood Control and Irrigation department, erected a board aside the bridge with warning "bridge is not safe for vehicles" that is also not readable as many bills have been stick on the board. "But certainly, the bill board makes no difference, as people who reside other side of the canal have no other option, but go through the unsafe bridge. The side boundaries of the bridge have been broken since decade, and it make difficult even for the pedestrians to pass through it", said a student of GDC Paloura sitting aside the bridge. "Although, the iron and concrete bridge is too narrow for four wheels, helplessly many commercial and private vehicles pass through it every day. All vehicles passing through can feel the vibrations and fear of collapse at any time. Passing through it in the night becomes much more difficult because of its fragility", said another student and added that the school buses, office goers, students and locals have to keep their lives at risk while passing through it. Sanjeev Sharma alleging biasness, of local MLA said that the local repeatedly urged him to get constructed a new bridge as old one cannot serve to growing population in the area, but all the time turned deaf ears. "It has been repeatedly brought to the notice of political representative and public administrators from time to time but all in vain. The political representative did not seem to find it important to renovate this crucial bridge despite of the warning of the Flood Control and Irrigation Department", he added. |
