9/18/2018 8:27:10 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 18: Asserting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not following the footsteps of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in uniting all the three regions of the state, Nitish Mahajan Zonal President of PDP From Gandhi Nagar Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday resigned from the post and basic membership of party along with his entire Gandhi Nagar Zone Committee. "It is not morally and ethically correct for me to remain in the PDP," Mahajan told reporters here this Morning. "On many occasions I raised issues like illegal settlement of Rohingyas in Jammu, ignoring history of Dogras in education department, discrimination in Job Opportunity for Youth but my party never supported me," he said. Nitish Mahajan four years back joined the PDP in the presence of Late Mufti Sayeed. "I looked upon myself as the PDP face for all communities in the Jammu region and worked to strengthen the party, always keeping in mind the secular fabric of our region," added the Zonal President of Gandhi Nagar Assembly. Mahajan said that it was not possible for him to continue with the PDP which "disregarded the demands and aspirations of Jammu region"."I have sent my resignation to party president Mehbooba Mufti with a request to accept it immediately. I feel it is neither morally nor ethically right for me to continue as the member of the PDP and as Zonal President," he told reporters here.
