MIER organizes awareness programme | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 18: MIER College of Education organized an awareness Programme on "Save the Girl Child" in the adopted village Bhatyari, block Bisnah on 18th September, 2018. A team of 35 students from the Extension unit visited the village. The aim of the visit was to create awareness among the people about the importance of Girl Child. The members of the unit oriented the villagers about the safety measures taken by the government to protect the girl child, the charges against the female feticide and the bad effects of gender inequality. The name of some female achievers from various fields such as Rani Laxmi Bai, Sunita Williams, Kalpana Chawla, P.T. Usha, Indira Gandhi etc. were given as examples to motivate the village residents. Various schemes and programmes run by government for the promotion of girls education, was also told. The programme was organized under the supervision of Suman Devi, Incharge, Extension unit. She further elaborated, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiative by launching this drive called Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. |
