Students protest against shortage of teachers in Govt. School

Rajouri, Sept 18: Students of high school at Galan in Taryath tehsil under Kalakot sub district, held protest demonstration and locked the school again alleging shortage of teaching staff.
Students their parents alleged that only four teachers were appointed in the school and after the school was locked in the month of July, two more teachers were sent on academic adjustment.
Lajo Devi, ZEO and Tehsildar had promised to send more teachers within 10 days but even after a gap of more than one month no teacher was sent to this school and the poor students suffering in completing their yearly studies of different subjects.
Pali Singh Lamberdar said from the beginning of current academic session the school is facing shortage of subject teachers. Almost half of the session has passed and our children are facing problems in completing their studies.
Protesting students raised slogans against the senior officials of the education department and warned to intensify their protest if the teachers were not provided soon.
Mani Ram, former sarpanch alleged that few months back Science and Mathematics teachers were transferred and few teachers were sent to this school during mass transfers by Chief Education Officer.
"The list was stayed by the Director, School Education and in the meantime those transferred from remote areas joined at their new places of postings while those transferred to far off areas didn't join and the schools in remote areas were left without teachers" said a senior official of education department.
Parents and prominent people of Galan and adjoining areas have warned large scale protest if teachers were not sent soon. They also warned to lock the school permanently.
