| Illegal smuggling of cement bags unabated | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 18: Despite of having strict Acts against smuggling of goods from all entries points of Jammu and Kashmir, numbers of vehicles entering the state with illegal cement bags. Ironically, security forces have number of check posts on these routes; still smuggling of cements bags is unabatedly at zenith.
It is pertinent to mention here that Traders buy cements from Punjab at low rates, which enter the state unabatedly from several entries points of the state like Kotepunnu to Paharpur, Sanji Morh, Hariachak. These traders sale these bags to local dealers at few margins who again sale at high rates to consumers that directly affect the business of authorized dealers. According to resources, the unauthorized business is unfeasible without the concurrence of officials deputized on these check posts. These vehicles ply during wee hours at night, disturbing people living along the road and move towards different part of the state. Pertinently, these entry points are situated along International border wherein several terrorist movements were observed through this route in previous couple of years. Lethargic eagle's eye of officers smells nexus and other type of smuggling like drug etc that would sell across the state. This type of entry is an alarming well for the security purposes too.
Locals demanded strict action against tainted officers who promote smuggling and allow the vehicles to enter the state with illegal goods like Cement, Mustard oil, cereals, and other grocery items. |
