| People blocked NH44 for two hours, demanded resettlement | | |  Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Sept 19: People staged protest demonstration and block Jammu-Srinagar National Highway against the district administration and construction companies, here today.
The people of Karol area whose houses were demolished by the private companies constructing Four Lane on NHW without any prior notice or information.
While intensify their protest the protestors block the National Highway for more than two hours which disrupt the traffic movement on NHW.
They demanded that the district administration should rehabilitate them to some safer place.
Addressing the protestors former district president Congress Committee Ramban Arun Singh Raju said that the administration should think and make some wayout for the people who lost their houses.
He demanded immediate settlement of the people of Karol adding that every time due to this attitude of the administration people were forced to come on the roads and block NHW.
He said that the manner in which a widow's house was broken down few days ago, will not be tolerated further.
He threatened that if their demands will not take up seriously than the authorities will have to face a huge protest in the coming days.
The protest came to end after the intervention of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters Ramban Asgar Ali Malik, Dy SP Traffic Rakesh Gupta, and Naib Tahsildar Ramban Santok Chand. |
