Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 19: In light of the upcoming Municipal elections in the state, members of the J&K Intellectual Civil Society, New Delhi and prominent citizens of Jammu expressed their unanimous support for highly educated candidates contesting the panchayat elections, during a meeting held at New Delhi today. S.S Sodhi, Chairman, JKICS stated that people of J&K state were highly eager to participate in the democratic process and hoped for betterment in all areas, much deserved by them. He assured that all members of the Civil Society and other prominent citizens would extend their whole hearted support to any deserving candidate standing for this election who is highly educated, well experienced, and disciplined, especially the women candidates and the youth of the state, who could deliver well through their understanding and management skills and pave a way for making Jammu & Kashmir a developed state and at par with other developed states in the country. Further, the members of the Civil Society also identified those areas where development is much needed in Jammu, such as drainage, waste management, greenery, power & electricity supply, installation of street lights, education, tourism, construction of toilets, advanced research labs, STP's, roads, etc. All members of JKICS and other prominent members said that they would extend their full support to the deserving candidates having clear vision and all those who could fulfill people's aspirations for bringing overall progress and development in the J&K state. |
