Jammu, Sept 21: A book-release function was organized by Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, J&K Branch for the release of Shringara Lahiri - a book authored by Prof. Priyatama Chander Shastri, renowned Sanskrit scholar of the state and former Principal, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (RSS), Ranbir Campus, Jammu at Press Club.
Dr. "Nirmal" Vinod, former HoD Hindi, RSS and famous poet was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Prof. Ram Pratap Vedalankar, former HoD. Sanskrit Jammu University and the founder of Chamatkar school was the Special Guest. The function was presided over by Padmshree Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai, former Head of the Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu.
In the function, details of the personality and contribution of Prof. Priyatama Chandra Shastri were highlighted. Prof. Shastri is a well-known scholar of Jammu. He has published a number of books in Sanskrit, prominent among those is his Jammu Shatakam.
The Chief Guest. Dr. Nirmal Vinod said the poetic journey of Prof. Shastri is quite long. He has shared the dais with him also on many occasions. He said that his poetry is really praiseworthy.
Distinguished Guest, Prof Ram Pratap Vedalankar highlighted the element of Chamatkar in his poems of Prof. Shatri and praised them. Didar Singh welcomed the guests. The programme was conducted by Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma.
