Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 9: Pakistani troops on Friday violated the ceasefire after resorting to unprovoked firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara. Official sources said the Pakistani troops, violating the 2003 ceasefire, fired with automatic weapons at around 1530 hrs, targeting forward posts and villages. The Indian troops also retaliated and the exchange of fire continued till 1615 hrs. However, there was no report of any casualty from this side of the LoC. Sources said that the Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in a bid to aid the militants to sneak into the Indian side. However, they said that the troops are on high alert to foil any infiltration bid from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), where dozens of trained militants are waiting in launch pads to sneak into this side. "Pakistan is trying to push militants into this side before the passes close due to snowfall in the winter," they added. |
