Ramnagar youth falling prey to drugs | | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 30: Many youth of Ramnagar area have fallen prey to the menace of drug addiction and are destroying themselves. A video of a local boy injecting drugs into his body went viral on social media, giving an insight into the gravity of the problem. Bhushan Lal, an elder of the area said that police have to work hard to control this menace. He also said that parents should also remain vigilant to the activities of their children. Many people opined that police arrests drug peddlers only but so far none of the kingpins have been arrested. Sunita, a house wife said that these drug addicts are capable of committing any crime if they did not get money for drugs. "The drugs are easily available and the peddlers can be easily located and negligence of the law enforcement authorities is making the youth easily fall prey to the demon of addiction," a retired army-man Vir Singh said. "The youth easily locate deserted places, under-construction buildings etc to indulge into such activities including injecting the drugs into their bodies, smoking smack etc," a source informed. The public at large demanded that police should take strict action to curb this menace so that youth can be saved. Balgar Singh, a local wrestler said that the youth should be motivated towards sports activities to save them from falling the prey to addiction. When contacted, SHO Ramnagar said that Police were alert and alive to the menace and assured that those playing with the lives of youth shall not be spared. |
