| GCPF Jammu expresses concern over marginalization of GC people | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 4: A meeting of General Category People's Forum-Jammu (GCPF-J) was held under the chairmanship of its President, Prof. Yash Paul Sharma, in which threadbare discussion was held over the marginalization and total neglect of General Category People (Swaran Castes) in social, economic and political sphere by Indian political class and the negative effects of caste-based reservation where also discussed in detail.
Address the meeting, Prof. Yash Paul Sharma, strongly criticized the continuation of reservation which has been giving birth of administrative incompetency and has jeopardized the career of many talent. He referred to the selection of a reserved category candidate who secured just one point, killing the merit of a student of psychology department at Kashsmir University who secured 16 points and was dropped from the selection list.
The candidates of General Category throughout the country have similar woes. Sharma said that reservation is bad which promotes casteism and classism and negate s the fundamental principles of equality justice and equal opportunities to all citizens. He appealed to the people and student community to raise their voices against caste based discrimination. Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary of the Forum said that forum fights for change by curbing reservation and continuous struggles against inequality, in justice, discrimination and its ultimate aim is a society based on the principle of equality and justice.
He said that the man of so called dalit or OBC family remains a dalit/backward even after his becoming President or Prime Minister of the Country. A person is a dalit or backward by virtue of his /her birth and not by his / her social position or economic status. Nath demanded review of conditions to grant reservation from caste go economic status. |
