Jammu, Dec 13: Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) on Thursday paid tributes to the martyrs of the 2001 attack on the Parliament House. To remember the martyrs, who laid their lives while fighting with Pakistani trained terrorists for the security of the Parliament House on December 13, 2001, JKFFA organized a function at Dogra Shaurya Stamb, Ambphalla, here. Participants lit the candles in remembrance of martyrs amidst singing of National Anthem. A two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of martyrs. The function was organized by the Chairman of the Association, Ved Gandotra wherein President, J&K Motors Transports Companies Association, S Gajan Singh Khajuria, was the Chief Guest. Paying tributes to the martyrs, Gajan Singh said, "Sacrifices of the soldiers who fought for the pride of the nation will always be remembered by the countrymen for all ages to come." He also lauded the contribution of army and other armed forces in protecting the borders. He saluted the valour of the soldiers for defending the nation and giving a befitting defeat to the enemy for its evil designs. Reminding the attack, Vice Chairman JKFFA, Rajiv Majahan said that on December 13, 2001, five heavily-armed gunmen stormed the Parliament complex and opened indiscriminate fire, killing nine persons. |
