Awareness camp on RTI organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: An awareness programme on Right to Information was organised by Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and broadcasting Government of India FOB, Rajouri at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Kalsian block Nowshera of District Rajouri. Jashpal Singh in his address said that RTI act has come as a tool for Indian citizens giving them the right to access information and service they need from public offices. If effectively implemented RTI can bring in openness and transparency between public authorities and common people to enhance help and information so that the citizenry and socio- economic development in rural areas will be lifted up. During the programme Amrik Singh, VLW, Kalsian stated that the basic objective of RTI is to make our democracy in a real sense he further stated that a citizen has the right to seek information from public authority and obtain information in any form he talked about the exemptions and disclosures under section 8&9 and schedule II of RI Act which enumerates the categories of information exempted from disclosure and the name of the intelligence and security which are exempted from preview of the act. Vijay Mattoo, I/c FOB, Rajouri in his welcome address enlightened the audience about the working and mandate of ROB & said that the motive behind organising this programme was to create awareness among the general masses about the importance of right to information act. |
