| UDC releases calendar of Maha Kumbh | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: Udhampur Development Council (UDC) today released the calendar of Maha Kumbh here today at Devika Ghat.
While addressing the media person, president UDC Anil Paba said the Maha Kumbh is going to start from January 14 on the occasion of pious Makar Sankranti and will end on the day of Maha Shivratri on March 4 including three Shahi Snanas and five Parva Snanas. It is pertinent to mention that the people across India and abroad visit the Holy Rivers at different places like Paryagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, Ujjain and take holy dip to get salvation. Paba said that the Madra Desh (Duggar Desh) is blessed with Holy river Devika at Behni Sangam, Udhampur, Sukon, Purmandal and Uttervehni in Jammu region. But it has been observed that the people of Jammu region also visit in large number to take a Holy dip in others rivers of India but why not at sacred River Devika of Duggar which itself is a manifestation of goddess Parvati. Such is the sanctity attached to this river that when river Ganga is burdened with the sins of evil doers then Ganga comes to have a bath in Devika river. It is in this manner river Ganga gets purified. Paba appealed to the people of Jammu region that instead of going to other places to take a Holy dip visit Devika river. |
