Jat Biradari delegation call on Chairman Commission for Backward classes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 17: A delegation of Jat Biradari and border communities led by Ch.Manmohan Singh President AIJMS called on Jeet Lal Gupta Chairman of State Commission for Backword Classes J&k Jammu and other committee members. The delegation members informed the officials them about the condition of people residing on border. Due to frequent disturbances due to cease fire violation and counter action, the border residents have been facing hardships to do their agricultural works as their land fall near the border. They have no other source of income and given the unavailability of their lands to them, their economic condition has worsened. Moreover their children have not much access to schools. Overall these people are socially, economically and educationally weak, the delegation members said. Despite having a right to live freely without any fear, they are deprived of this right and their choice. The issue of reservation has taken up with Govt many times but even the plight of these people during severe difficult times has not led to any action, they said. The delegation members asked for reservation for the people living within 8km of International border, allowing them reservation in jobs and educational institutions. According to the previous order of government, the RBA status is to be given to these people but this order has not been implemented till now, they rued. Chairman and other members of the Commission assured the delegation members that they would try to come up with some satisfactory answer to their predicament. Ch Dev Raj, Ch Sarbjit Singh, Ch Sham lal, Ch Kamal Randhawa,Capt Om singh, Ch satish, s Davinder singh Sonu,Ch jagdish raj and Sanju Randhawa were among the delegation members. |
