Reward to SHO upsets IPS officer, sends junior to DPL

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 3: It may sound weird but its true that a senior IPS officer posted in Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range is quite upset with one of his Inspectors these days only because his junior was rewarded for cracking a vital case.
Sources told Early Times that the ill-fated Inspector instead of getting accolades from the IPS officer was unceremoniously removed by the latter from the charge of the police station he was holding and placed in the District Police Line (DPL).
"The IPS officer is annoyed for the reason that the Inspector (SHO) had solved a crucial case while holding the charge of the police station. The Inspector's efforts were recognized by the police chief and he was awarded by him, however, the IPS officer got upset that he was completely ignored in the matter and a much junior officer was bestowed with a reward. The IPS wasted no time in sending the rewarded SHO to the DPL," said sources.
Sources said that recently a big burglary had taken place in the district headed by the senior IPS officer adding that the concerned SHO made strenuous efforts to solve the theft case and finally managed to crack it within few days.
"The SHO left no stone unturned in solving this particular theft case which had made headlines in the state. He managed to apprehend all those involved in the theft within shortest possible time. The dedication of the SHO was recognized by the police chief, who rewarded him for swiftly acting in a critical case," said sources.
"But, only rewarding SHO and ignoring the district police head did not amuse the IPS officer. The senior officer using his official powers removed the SHO from the police station within few days and sent him packing to the DPL," added sources
Sources further said that the buck doesn't stops here as even after placing the Inspector in the DPL, the IPS officer does not lose an opportunity to harass him. The Inspector is being bothered on one pretext or the other adding that the Inspector is being asked to perform special duties on regular basis so that his services couldn't be considered for holding the charge of a police station.
