Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 3: The people of Kishtwar District rued the non- availability of Charcoal and Kerosene at designated cooperative sale depots or at the depots of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Kishtwar as District is presently experiencing harsh winter period. Speaking to ET, the people said that there is no charcoal and urea at cooperative outlets in Kishtwar as the shops are closed and employees dealing with these outlets are enjoying at Jammu while the public is reeling under sub zero temperatures. People said that the authorities need to be pulled up and taken to task for inconvenience caused to the people. "It is so harsh winter this year, but the corporative fraternity having huge assets to provide relief to the public has failed to provide charcoal etc to the people as Government has already banned use of fallen timbers" said angry people adding that kerosene depots of cooperatives are closed while black marketing of Kerosene is at its peak. Meanwhile the people also launched a scathing attack on CAPD department for their failure in providing the Kerosene to the people as the majority of the shops in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas are either closed or exist in papers only. As per the reports available with ET, around 156 Kerosene depots are in papers in Kishtwar District and among them only few are visible. The people called upon newly elected Municipality Councilors, Sarpanches & Panches to verify these centers in their respective areas and ensure that these depots functioned on ground and people got benefits from them.
The people also alleged that instead of providing the Kerosene to the deserving people, same is being provided to transporters for the use in vehicles.
