2/4/2019 11:53:37 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 4: The Union government has allegedly misused government funds in crores for Bhartiya Janta Party's Sunday "Maharally" at Vijaypur, which was merely a poll-propaganda of the party.
Moreover several government projects, proposed to the constructed through the public funds, were also e-inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the stage of BJP's political rally.
Sources informed Early Times that Central Public Works Department (CPWD)- a Union government agency-was allegedly asked to make all the arrangements for the BJP's political "Maharally".
"The estimated cost of the poll-propaganda's Maharally was in crores and all the cost was incurred by CPWD, which is engaged in the construction of infrastructure for AIIMS, IIM, IIT", sources said, adding that the total cost of above mentioned projects runs in several thousands of Crores and it was not a big issue for CPWD to utilize a few crores. "If PMO office had instructed the CPWD officials to make the arrangements, who can dare to raise question over misuse of funds", an official pleading anonymity said.
Sources further disclosed that an event manager (Khajuria) was allegedly hired for the event, who had brought all material from outside the state, to make five huge make-shift sheds at the venue of BJP's political Maharally.
"The Event manager in turn engaged some local vendors for making sitting arrangements, install small tents on the bridge and on other sides, make electrical arrangements, made podium, toilet and drinking facilities at the venue", sources said, adding that food packets were also arranged for the gathering, which were supplied by a famous hotel of Jammu.
Sources further divulged that an amount in lakhs was utilized on transportation facility to bring people from various areas of the Jammu province.
The BJP has claimed in the large hoardings, installed across Jammu city that it was party's Maharally. "It was a political event of BJP due to which Governor SP Malik showed his presence briefly and had left the stage", sources said, adding that the presence of local BJP unit leaders at the stage only corroborated the fact that it was a poll propaganda rally. "But question arises if it was a BJP's political rally then why several governmental projects were inaugurated by PM from the stage of BJP", an official questioned.
Even the NHPC and state power corporation officials exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from the stage of BJP's political rally.
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Chairman Harshdev Singh had also questioned the misuse of taxpayers' money by BJP by organizing a political rally. "And if it (BJP's Maharally) was a political rally, how come that several crores of tax papers' money were being spent for the said rally to promote the interests of a particular political party", Harshdev Singh had questioned while addressing a press conference, and had sought a white paper on government expenditure being incurred on the BJP's political rally and fixation of responsibility.
Another politician said that BJP has made a culture of misusing public institutions as well as public funds for their personal gains.
