NHM employees hunger strike enters day 2 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 10: Further intensifying their ongoing agitation, a number of NHM employees under the banner of NHM Employees' Association Jammu/ Kashmir hunger strike (fast unto death) enters second day to highlight their long pending demands besides expressing resentment against the Government's breach of trust and coercive tactics. They also threatened to take harsher steps if the Government tries to muzzle the voice of agitating employees by resorting to harassment and coercive tactics. The protesting employees have threatened to further intensify their agitation in wake of unwarranted coercive approach of the authorities towards genuine demands of employees including regularisation of services, equal pay for equal work, social security benefits and others. "It is very unfortunate that some officers in the administration are resorting to public display of coercive tactics to fail the struggle of protesting employees without having proper information of issues and demands. They are resorting to misinformation campaign on social media to provoke people for creating adverse perception against agitating employees," said Rohit Seth, adding that if authorities will continue their coercive tactics besides pressurizing employees, the association will be forced to further intensify its agitation. "Being sensitive towards situation, the NMH employees Association is giving relaxation in strike on voluntary basis wherever required or asked for. Hence the perception that we are not concerned about people is misguided and an attempt to malign the image of employees among common public", said Kashmir Divisional President, Muneer Andrabi. |
