RAJOURI, Feb 11: Chairman J&K Human Development Foundation Rajouri, Sayeed Mughal said that government has both land and funds for raising parks and gardens, and construction of community halls, government offices, shopping complexes and malls. But when it comes to construction of school buildings, it has neither land nor funds. This speaks volumes of government's priority for education sector. Sayeed Mughal said that how will parents send their wards to schools that have no proper facilities of washing room, playground, science laboratory, computer laboratory, library, etc. Though adequate funds are pouring in from centrally sponsored schemes like SSA and RMSA but these could not be used in most of the schools for lack for accommodation and other facilities. Mughal said that there is growing evidence from across the globe that the condition of school infrastructure has a strong impact on learning outcomes of students adding that there is an even greater need of addressing the infrastructural challenges in our schools. He further said that a healthy learning environment in schools is only possible when students and teachers are provided with adequate facilities, not only related to teaching and learning, but also safe and sound infrastructure. |
