JKNPP expresses concern over neglect of Ranbir Library | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 11: Expressing grave concern over the dilapidated condition of Ranbir Singh Library which had been established by Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1879, the Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party state secretary, Shanker Singh Chib said that such poor state of the library is due to the constant neglect and apathy of the successive governments for the last 70 years. Chib said that the historic library is understaffed, there seems to be absence of updated technology although availability of thousands of books, material related to different competitive exams remains lying packed and far away from aspirants purpose. The problem do not stopped here according to readers there are having 15 computers and a broadband connection but no reader is ever allowed to access the internet in the library adding that here is non-availability of recent books and journals. Besides there is no catalogue, internet facility, no uninterrupted electricity, no provision of drinking water, no separate washrooms for male and female readers, dustbins and other basic facilities are also missing. It showed Department of Culture has no concern for public especially educated youths who want to study, preparing for diverse exams, wish to build up their career for this nation and society in particular. Chib warned the Department of Culture to remove such kind of callousness and ignorant attitude. Such attitude will not be tolerated by the public of Jammu. He warned that within small time all kind of malfunctioning in Ranbir Library has to be removed otherwise Panthers Party will gherao Department of Culture and Department of Library for their negligence. |
