VVPAT awareness programme organized | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb 21: An awareness programme was organized in GDC Kathua regarding the use of VVPAT for the upcoming Assembly and Parliamentary elections. District Deputy Election Officer, Chand Kishore threw light on the use of VVPAT. He said this machine shall bring more transparency in the election process and give more clear evidence of casting of vote by the voter as there is a printed paper slip to be viewed through a window in the VVPAT which this machine shows to the voter. He said that VVPAT shall disperse a slip with the symbol of the party for which a person has voted for. The slip will drop in a box but the voter cannot take it home. He also gave real time demonstration of the use of VVPAT Machine in which faculty members and students of the college cast their dummy vote. Principal of the college, Prof. Kartar Chand enthused on the importance of casting vote. He said that the students of 18 years of age must get their EPIC prepared for casting their vote. He stressed upon the students to act as messengers and spread the message of importance of casting vote to common masses. The proceedings of the programme were anchored by Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Rakesh Singh. Prof. Jasvinder Singh, Prof. Shub Kumar , Prof Manmohan Sing, Prof. Roma , Prof Pinky , Prof. Deepak Gupta were also present on this occasion. The programme was attended by a large number of students of the college. |
