| DSS seeks revocation of cases against Army jawans | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 21: Dogra Swabhiman Sangthan (DSS) has sought immediate revocation of cases filed against Army jawans despite immunity under AFSPA. According to press release, Col J P Singh, Chairman of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Ex-Servicemen Cell said that FIRs are filed against the entire sub-unit carrying out the anti terrorist operations. "This practice must be banned. Nothing could be more ignominious for a nation when soldiers are sanctified as criminals in J&K and militants are sanctified as victim and the TPR crazy media further sanctifies it by airing it repeatedly, demoralizing the soldiers", he stated.
He appealed Governor to revoke all FIRs and pending court cases against soldiers. Recalling how in 2014, when a car violated various Nakkas, it was fired upon resulting into two deaths and prosecution of a JCO incharge Nakka and the sentry who fired. Army Commander apologised publically for this incident after which checking and frisking were stopped.
He appealed government to consider some demands which include ex-gratia be raised to a minimum of fifty lac, disability pensions be enhanced generously, govt jobs be assured to the next of kins of the martyrs beside others.
