PAF demands home delivery of LPG cylinders | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Feb 28: President Public Awareness front Shakir Siddiqi in his pess statement issued here today said that negligence in home delivery of LPG cylinders by the Gas Agencies is creating mess in District Kishtwar. Saddiqi said that Supply of LPG as kitchen fuel is covered by the Essential Commodities Act, which requires the cylinder to be delivered at home within 48 hours of booking added that however, many get the same after a week or even in some cases fortnightly . He said several people complaint to him in this regard as well as that no one answers the repeated phone calls at the agency as a result of which the people have to go personally at the agency Office to pick up a cylinder beside have also doubts over the weight of the cylinder. "what are the rights of consumers under the Essential Commodities Act 1955 and the corresponding LPG (Regular Supply & Distribution) Order 2000-- who required to impliment these orders" he said. He said that as per norms, bookings for the gas cylinder must be accepted over the phone, there should be 100% home delivery, the customer has the right to weigh the cylinder at the time of taking delivery, the Gas agencies must be open for business between 10 am and 6 PM. He further said that in District Kishtwar the law is not prevailing added that the Rariwalas are being seen picking up the cylinder instead of home delivery. He appeals the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take appropriate action in order to overcome this problem of the masses. |
