| GDC Basohli celebrates National Science Day | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb 28: National Science Day" is celebrated in GDC Basohli based upon the theme " Science for the people and the People for Science" under the guidance of Prof. R.S. Jamwal Principal of the institution and Science Club of the College.
At the outset, traditional lamp was lit by chief guest Prof. R.S. Jamwal along with Prof. Papinder Kumar, Prof. Rakesh Singh, Prof. Raman Kumar, Prof. Asha Sharmhal and other staff members. Thereafter, Sarswati Bandana was recited by Sohan Lal (President of College) along with students. In his welcome address, worthy Principal stressed upon students to develop scientific temper among themselves and make use of science in daily life.
Prof. Rakesh Singh Co-convener of Science Club of College throw light upon the life and contribution of Sir C.V. Raman in whose memory this day is being celebrated. He also discussed about the various activities which are to be undertaken to celebrate the National Science Day. This included poster making based upon the theme "clean and green environment", science quiz completion and symposium based upon the theme "Science in Everyday Life."
In symposium about 23 students participated and put forth their views before the audience. Prof. Anil Kumar Dogra, Prof. Jatinder Singh and Prof. Charu Gupta acted as jury members. In this event Anbhi of Sem- VI stood first, Pooja Devi of Sem- II got 2nd position and Gulshan Kumar of Sem-II got third position. In quiz competition five teams participated and team A got first position.
The Poster competition is also organized and 10 students participated in this event. Thereafter, certificates were distributed among the participating students. |
