DB grants time to file compliance in PIL regarding upgradation of Jmu Airport | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 2: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Ravi Abrol seeking directions to respondents to upgrade the Civil Airport Jammu at par with the international airports, a Division Bench (DB) of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan directed the state to file compliance report of order dated February 4, 2019 before March 29, 2019. The PIL filed had sought provision of inflow and outflow of international flights in view of large number of pilgrims visiting Jammu from outside the country to pay obeisance to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The Division Bench passed the direction after hearing senior Adv Sunil Sethi with Adv Ravi Abrol for the PIL whereas Adv Inderjeet Gupta for the Airport Authority of India, Sr. AAG SS Nanda for the state, directed State to file compliance report of order dated February 4, 2019 before March 29, 2019. As per earlier direction, Division Bench observed that a grievance is additionally made with regard to the failure of the state government to commence night flights from the Jammu Airport. The issue(s) pointed out by the Airport Authority of India and the above aspect require(s) response of the state government. Upon this DB directed let the matter be placed before the Chief Secretary of the state for consideration and the view taken by the state government be placed before this Court before the next date of hearing. --(JNF) |
