Awareness programme on Khelo India organised

Udhampur, Mar 2: Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Udhampur organised a day long awareness programme at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jaganoo.
The aim of the programme was to aware masses especially youth about various aspects and provisions of Khelo India. A number of IEC activities and sports events which included Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Tug of War matches, Lectures on importance of sports etc.
In sports events Kho-Kho match under 19 category for girls, Kadaddi match under 19 and under 17 category for girls and Tug of war for boys were orgainsed ion which above 60 students participated. These sporets events were officiated by a team of experts led by Parmod Singh and Neha Devi, Physical Education teachers.
Ashok Kumar, Principal of the Institute who presided over the function delivered a key note address on Khelo India. While his interaction with audience he was of the view that physical fitness plays a vital role in success of every individual and Khelo India will definitely prove to be very fruitful. He also suggested jkthat such programmes need to be organised in schools, colleges in remote and interior pockets so that the talented sports persons come forward and get benefit of such National Programmes.
Dr. H. R. Singh, Vice Principal of the Institute while interacting with audience said that with the launch of Khelo India the hidden talent will be explored and sports will get a new boost in the country. Speaking on this occasion Gurnam Singh, In-charge Field Outreach Bureau, Udhampur gave a brief note about the launch of campaign and details of activities being undertaken during 2 days programmes. He said that Khelo India programme initiated by the Government of India needs participation of youth for which they have to shoulder their responsibilities in spreading awareness of the programme and motivating others to be part of Khelo India programme. Theme based cultural programmes presented by Sudesh Kumari and Party and some students was another attraction of the programme. Prizes in shape of winners were distributed.
