Years on, demand of GDC Tariath remains unfulfilled

Rajouri, Mar 7: The long pending demand for a degree college in Tariath has not been met.
Tehsil Tariath falls in Kalakote constituency and the local panchayat representatives including Sarpanches, Panches had been continuously seeking a GDC but their demand was not met despite repeated assurances by the local leaders and the higher authorities.
"We have submitted an application in this connection to the Commissioner Secretary Higher Education at Civil Secretariat wherein we informed that Tehsil Tariath situated in the center point of the constituency Kalakote. "The area is adjacent to Tehsil Dral which has six panchayats, Tehsil Reasi has 6, Nowshera 6 and Kalakote 11 panchayts. Therefore, he demand for a GDC is justified," the local representatives said.
The area, according to them has a population of 20,000 people and has 9 Government Higher Secondary Schools. The students have to travel a distance of 50-60 kilometers to reach the college. The people have sought a degree college in the area.
