Early Times Report RAMBAN, Mar 21: On the eve of the World Forestry Day, the Forest Division Batote under the supervision of DFO, Batote, Safeer Hussain Shah and in collaboration with the 7th Battalion of Sehshastra Seema Bal(SSB), 84 Battalion of CRPF and locals planted about 1000 plants of different varieties in the Compartment No.11 of Forest at Tringla in Batote. The plantation drive was jointly inaugurated by the Dy. Commandant, SSB,Bn 7,Vipin Sharma, 2nd in-Command, CRPF Bn.84,Mritunjay Kumar and Forest Range Officer, SS Chib. Assistant Commandant's, CRPF, Bn.84, Ajay Malik and Tek Chand also participated in the plantation drive. The planted plants mainly included the varieties of Deodar,Kail,Salix(weeping willow),Oak (banjj), Rubenia, Agave and Ulmus. This plantation drive was carried out on the request of the public of the area led by ex-Councillor, Advocate Zahoor-ud-Din Babar,as due to the recent long spell of snowfall and rainfall the land in the forest above the locality had started sinking and sliding thereby endangering their lives and property.
