No alliance with Congress, says Omar
'RSS-BJP the two enemies'

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 13: Former J&K CM and NC vice-president Omar Abdullah has finally spoken and cleared all the cobwebs of confusion about the relations between the NC and the Congress. He on Friday without mincing words said that there was no alliance between the NC and the Congress and that the NC was taking on the Congress in Kashmir and it will also field its candidate from the lone Ladakh parliamentary constituency and oppose the Congress candidate and other candidates.
"Why would the phones ring between Gupkar, where Abdullahs live, and Fairview, where Mehbooba Mufti lives? From day one, we have made it very clear that we have no alliance partners. We are fighting against the Congress in Baramulla and Anantnag, and we will fight against them on the Leh-Kargil seat too," Omar Abdullah was quoted as saying.
As for the decision of the Congress to not field its candidate against his father Farooq Abdullah, who is seeking re-election from the Srinagar parliamentary constituency, Omar Abdullah said that the Congress did not field its candidate considering his seniority.
"Because of Dr. Farooq’s seniority, Congress has chosen not to put a candidate against him in Srinagar but we are not alliance partners," he reportedly said.
Omar Abdullah also didn't buy the argument that the NC has fielded a weak candidate against Mehbooba Mufti so that she could win the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat. "What favour have we done to Mehbooba Mufti? We have put up who we believe to be the best candidate for south Kashmir. Today's elections have become about the special status of Jammu Kashmir. The key point of the discussion today is Article 370 and Article 35-A. What better person to send to the parliament than the judge responsible for issuing the judgement that we believe is the bedrock for protecting and safeguarding Jammu Kashmir's special status. Furthermore, Justice (Retd) Masoodi's name was announced before Mehbooba announced her own name," Omar Abdullah was quoted as saying.
Omar Abdullah also justified the decision of the NC to not field its candidates in Jammu. He reportedly said: "We have chosen not to put our candidates in Udhampur and Jammu for exactly the same reasons that PDP has. We did not want the anti-BJP wave to get divided but we are not allies. The country needs to be saved from the divisive forces of the BJP and the RSS".
