Omar goes Mehbooba's way, promises amnesty to stone-pelters
Mainstream politicians sell separatism?

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah, has been making plethora of promises since the day election campaigning has started in the Valley.
He has been saying that if NC is voted to power, it would provide divisional status to Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar and other districts, would revoke Public Safety Act and on Saturday he announced that he would withdraw all cases against youth booked for stone-pelting.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that people sitting in national capital should take a serious note of the assertions and the statements of the Kashmir centric leaders. "They (Kashmir centric leaders) seem to have lost the plot and are trying every possible trick to lure the voters. They seem to have forgotten that such tactics won't do them any good."
He said, "It's strange that Omar Abdullah is following the footsteps of its bête-noire Peoples Democratic Party. When Mehbooba Mufti was ruling the state she granted amnesty to 10,000 stone-pelters of which many turned militants. It seems Kashmir centric leaders have not learnt from their mistakes. They want to repeat what they have done in the past."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Omar Abdullah has been promising moon and stars to the people. He seems desperate to get the power back. On the other hand Mehbooba Mufti is once again playing militant and religious cards to lure the voters. She is once again trying to tell the voters in Anantnag parliamentary constituency, from where she is contesting, that if she returns to power she would set all Jamaat activists free and would allow the anti-national elements to carry on with their activities."
He said that it's unfortunate that these leaders are sending a wrong message and seem least concerned about nationalism and its values. "Their election campaigns have proved it beyond doubt that they are power hungry and want to reach the civil secretariat by hook or crook. Their statements do provide Pakistan with a handle to poke its nose into the internal affairs of our country. These Kashmir centric leaders need to be told that anti-national rhetoric won't be tolerated and if they want o preach sedition and separatism then they should give up all the privileges and join Geelani' s camp," the Kashmir watcher added. A politician said, "Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and other should realize that India has changed and in the new India there is no place for the people who sail in the two boats. These politicians have to choose between nationalism and separatism. They cannot keep on preaching both at the same time."
