Teach the lesson to 'Jai Chands' | | Jamwal Mahadeep Singh | 4/16/2019 10:32:44 PM |
| When we focus our scrutiny towards Jammu and people of this region, we cannot over look the history pages of our political parties that were trusted time and again by the voters and their martial fielded to combat the discrimination, an all-time upshot by Kashmir centric political parties upon Jammu and Jammuites. The noble hearted voters of this region have blindly accepted these 'political martial' as their representatives both in Lok Sabha as well as in State Assembly. But, alas! All the time this political class has betrayed the voters of this region for their own interests that may be state elections of 2008 or 2014 and the blisters came from one and all but the most one from BJP during its bad rule in alliance with PDP, that always remain in frontline to do away the discrimination, an all-time melody from Kashmir centric parties. Of the 2008 assembly, seven of the eleven (The number achieved by exploitation of religious sentiments owing to Amarnath land row) BJP MLAs facing disciplinary rod, were suspended for favoring Kashmir based political party in the legislative council elections and what resonated at that time was the exchange of crores of rupees for selling the trust of Jammu voters in the hands of Kashmir based political party then in power. Accordingly again in 2014, this party sided with the anti-national mindful PDP, by betraying the people of this region and all twenty five 'Fuski crackers' (elected not on their efficiency but people believing the hollow commitments of Mr. Modi to do away discrimination with Jammu region by keeping aside 'Baap-Beta' and Baap-Beti' combine targeted as looters of the treasury) kneeled down before their counterpart from valley for their survival and self interests. This was the period, when even after sharing power in equal proportion; the discrimination witnessed by people of this region was all time highest in history. These observations carry our consciousness to the era of second battle of Tarain fought in 1192 and faced by Raja Prithviraj Chauhan. The betrayal of Raja Jai Chand leads to the death of Prithviraj Chouhan and a win for Mohammad Ghori. Since then the name 'Jaichand' is synonymous with treason and treachery. Similarly BJP assembly representatives in 2014 allied with PDP, always carrying anti Jammu ideology, for power lust and remained loyal to the PDP thus set a new era of disloyalty towards Jammu region and Jammuites and they are portrayed and lip murmured as 'Jai Chands'. With the active support of BJP, CM (from PDP) issued blanket ban on anti-encroachment drive against particular section of society. The Dy CM (Mr. Nirmal Singh) of that era in 2016 from BJP quota adopted (appeasement of Kashmir centric party) Chrar-e-Sharief for development in Srinagar. How the BJP leader (Nirmal Singh) have accused the Army of harassing people (Google search result) when Army has raised objections over the construction of his house next to an ammunition depot in Nagrota. How the BJP has reacted through its Dy. CM of the time that Burhan Wani's killing was an accident, the security forces were unaware of Wani's presence and had the forces known, they would have taken precautions, release of approximately ten thousand criminals (stone pelters) by BJP sponsored government from valley on the behest of central command and centre's interlocutor Mr. Dineshwar Mishra, and those from Jammu on trivial issues are longing in jails. Feeling heat of the sentiments of the Jammuites for its total eradication from the region, it parted safely from the alliance accusing PDP not coming to the satisfaction of the Jammuites after remaining in kneeling position for three years and was likely to be kicked out by the PDP. The way Congress, NC, PDP, and other Kashmir centric parties have shown solidarity against Jammu and its people is a new commingle and can never be a combination of Jammites cause. We cannot forget how the senior national conference (NC) legislator Mohammed Akbar Lone had raised "Pakistan Zindabad" slogans in the Assembly house at Jammu itself at the time when an operation to flush out Jaish militants from the Sunjuwan Army camp in Jammu was in progress and state BJP president (Mr. Ravinder Raina) was seen on national TV network in his self styled loud speaker tone speaking of grilling the Pakistan and at the same time twenty five alarmist half of them occupying ministerial berths from BJP were mute to the situation and scene created by pro-Pakistan and anti-India sloganeering by lone and speaker of the assembly too from BJP (Mr Kavinder Gupta) dare not to act constitutionally. The other day the remarks of CM Mehbooba Mufti that attempts to weaken Article 370 of the Constitution, which grants special autonomy to the state, were the biggest "anti-national act" and these were against the BJP fraternity, but speaker except to say that these remarks will be expunged from the proceedings, dare not move further. The silence of Jammuites at that juncture was also worrisome. This has given reason for many to speak out that it is always BJP leadership, who till yesterday was branded as party of 'bandhs and calls' have now aligned with anti-nationals and pro-Pak and are part and parcel of the same bandwagon. The lok sabha election has given an opportunity once again to introspect and to identify the 'Jai Chands', among those now on 'beseech campaign' and again much talking of discrimination with Jammu and its people. We should not forget that many of these are the turn coats for their adjustability in politics and at the same time many have been the real voice of the Jammuites also. Making fake commitments, lucrative slogans, raising the aspersions of the common man for vote and after assuming power, turning blind eye to the suffering of them and taking care for its swallowing wallet only, is modern definition of 'Jai Chand'. The responsibility now lies on voters to single out the 'Jai Chands' among those in race of contesting elections. It is not a mind boggling exercise or 'Samudara Manthan' type activity to arrive the conclusion but a simple go through the Curriculum Vitae of contesting candidates. In the given situation, we come across following categories of the contestants both in Lok Sabha as well as State Assembly elections: 1) The political party repeating its candidate: The barometer to measure the performance of such candidates is to compare the on ground existence of committed promises. Look for the 'Constituency Services' of parliamentarians/legislatures to serve and represent the interests of their constituents. 2) A joint candidate of commingles group: Here one has to focus the ability of the candidate as well as parties intentions/acceptance in both the regions of the state that are putting the joint candidate as joint venture. 3) A turncoat: Basically it is the definition of a parson who has no loyalties towards party as well as voters but always looks for his benefit and ever changing loyalties that suits to him. 4) An independent that are mostly of two types: one earlier having no political affiliation, other exasperated denied mandate by party, and one more category: that is disowned and discarded by political party. Concluding, in politics it is necessary either to betray one's country or the electorate. I prefer to betray the electorate" - Charles de Gaulle. The 'Jai Chand' follows the principle of this quote. When we crisscross the scenario, we come across number of 'Jai Chand' irrespective of their political association. We need to reject any politics that targets people just for the vote bank and this is not only a matter of political correctness but also matter of understanding what makes us strong. I like to suggest that if 'Jai Chands' will be identified this time, it will be easier for us to go for better choice in Assembly Elections in due course of time.
