Uma Jayanti celebrated with fervor, gaiety | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 16: Uma Jayanti, the birthday of Godess Uma Bhagwati was celebrated with religious fervor and/ gaiety at Sharda Peet Temple complex Bantalab Jammu. A large number of people drawn from different parts of Jammu thronged the Sharda Peet Complex and participated in the religious function there. On this occasion a Maha Yagya was solemnized in the Sharda Peet Complex Bantalab Jammu by the UMA Bhagwati Asthapan Trust Brariangan Camp office Jammu. The Maha Yagya started yesterday evening and it culminated this afternoon with Puranahuti. The devotees were served with Prashad after the Puranahuti. Bhajan Kirtan A/adic hymens were recited in the Temple premises since yesterday evening. Prior to inimical conditions in 1990, on this day said Maha Yagya was being solemnized at the abode of Mata Uma Bhagwati at Village Brarianagan Umanagri District Anantnag Kashmir. At this Place the Shrine of Mata Uma Bhagwati is in the shape of "OM" Aumkara, made of five natural springs, demonstrating the five cosmic principles of the universe. This shrine is one the oldest shrines in Kashmir valley and was explored by a Pandit from Srinagar Kashmir named as Shri Shiv Ram Koul (Jalali) in 1772 later on named as Swami Shiv Ram Jee. |
