Orthopedics OT closed for upgradation in GMC&H | Patients suffer | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 20: A number of surgeries are been deferred as the operation theater of orthopedics department of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu has been closed for its up-gradation for more than one week. Pertinently, eight to ten surgeries are performed per day and the closure of theater has subjected the poor patients to inconvenience as they cannot afford the private hospitals. Taking benefits of the situation, an attendant said that some patients are being asked to visit private hospitals for early surgeries as the operation theater is likelu to remain closed for some time. Patients also asked them to get the surgery done as soon as possible as the risk factor is increasing day by day as the same has been delayed for last one week. "We cannot afford costly treatment in private hospital so we are compelled to wait till the Operation Theater is not functional. We are feeling very disappointed as the administration has failed to make alternate so that surgeries can be conducted. Sources told that the administration of the hospital has closed Operation Theater of the Orthopedics department for its up-gradation for last more than one week but failed to makeshift arrangements due to lack of vision resulting patients, who need surgery are suffering from pillar to post to get the surgery done. |
