Amid blasts in Sri Lanka, security heightened in State | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 21: Amid a series of blasts in Sri Lanka that left over 150 persons dead and dozens wounded on Sunday, security has been heightened in the militancy infested state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said in the wake of deadly terror strike in the neighboring country, the police and other security forces have been put on alert following intelligence inputs. Sources said the security forces apprehend that terrorists hiding in Jammu and Kashmir were desperate to execute terror attacks in the state at this particular point of time. Sources said apart from restive Kashmir, Jammu has also been put on high alert and that "special night patrol would be in place in the winter capital in particular." "The attacks in Sri Lanka have put the state on alert," said a police official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the senior officials of the police called a meeting here Sunday afternoon in the wake of the terror strikes in Sri Lanka. Sources said the meeting was told that there were already inputs that terror groups controlled from Pakistan were desperate to carry out strikes in Srinagar and Jammu capital regions. "What has been most alarming is that there are already inputs that a group of terrorists is desperate to carry out attacks in Srinagar and Jammu, so the security grid needs to be in place," said a senior police official on the condition of anonymity. One more meeting is likely to be held on Monday. Sources said following the recent terror attacks in Doda region where at least two politicians have been killed in the last six months, the police apprehend that terrorists were trying to establish sleeper cells in the winter capital. It's pertinent to mention that two deadly blasts have already rocked the winter capital in the last around six months. |
