Kohli demands conduct of Assembly elections in ending November's | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 3: Former minister and senior BJP leader Abdul Ghani Kohli has castigated the statements of National Conference, PDP and Panthers Party demanding immediate conduct of J&K Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference here today, Kohli said that it is sorry state of affairs that the leaders of these parties least bother about the fate of Gujjar and Bakerwal community with regard to securing their right of vote in assembly elections as most of the Gujjars and Paharies go to the pastures during summers. He said that it is worthwhile to mention that the majority of these nomadic (Bakerwals) are hailing from Kalakote constituency. These people leave their native places of Kalakote somewhere in last week of April and take about 45 days to reach to their destination in Kashmir for grazing their sheep and goats and after staying for three onths at their pastures again start moving back to their native places somewhere near 15th of November every year. Kohli said that there are many other factors that neither Congress nor NC and neither PDP have ever thought for giving political reservation to this community in the same way as has been done in case of SC community. So keeping in view this factor to give justice to these poor and Bakerwal community be given chance for right of vote accordingly so it is imperative that the elections should be held after 2nd week of November, said Kohli. |
