Police launches "Care for your buddy" programme for awareness against drug abuse | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 16: Jammu Police launched its programme, "Care for your buddy", for creating awareness among students and preventing drug abuse. While unveiling the programme in DPL Jammu and addressing around 250 teachers representing schools from the entire District, SSP Jammu, Tejinder Singh (IPS), emphasised on the role of teachers and parents in protecting children from drug addiction. The "Care for your Buddy" programme aims to create groups of students within schools, where the peer group will act as buddies and encourage each other to avoid drugs. It ropes in teachers as "Nodal Monitors against Drugs" at the level of each school. The peer group will keep a check on each other and will inform the Nodal teacher if signs of drug abuse emerge in a student. The Nodal teacher and Principal are then meant to counsel the child and inform the Parents, and also refer them to professionals if required. This initiative is aimed at preventing the young generation from falling prey to the use of drugs. |
