HC directs JDA to file report on City Chowk encroachments | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 22: The J&K High Court has directed Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to file latest status report regarding any encroachment in the corridors of JDA Shopping Complex at City Chowk, Jammu The direction was passed by a division bench comprising First Puisne Judge, Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Sindhu Sharma in a Public Interest Litigation filed by one Jagidsh Chander Gupta to highlight the illegal encroachments by the shopkeepers and other persons in the JDA Shopping Complex, Mohalla Old Hospital Road, near City Chowk, Jammu. In the PIL it has been submitted that due to illegal encroachments by the shopkeepers in one of the oldest/busiest commercial areas of Jammu, the shopkeepers have encroached the land of the road by raising verandas, and because of these encroachments it has become very difficult for the pedestrians to walk on the road. Numerous representations/complaints made by the petitioner since 1993 has failed to evoke any response by the district administration/ JDA/JMC. |
