Dozens of PHE water supply schemes defunct in Mendhar | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, May 22: Sub division Mendhar is reportedly reeling under acute drinking water shortage as dozens of PHE water supply schemes are said to be defunct for years together while the department has failed to take any initiatives to address the burning issue of public, source said here today. They said besides water the tankers of the department were also lying defunct adding to woes of the general public who were facing hardships due to shortage of drinking water. We have to walk several kilometers to fetch drinking water for the family, said a local woman adding It is too hot to go out now a days. Sources said besides in Sub division Mendhar, Poonch Mandi and Surankote sub division too were receiving very less water which could fulfill the need of inhabitants of these areas. Meanwhilw Chairman Mendhar Youth club advocate Nadeem Khan has urged the state administration and Chief Engineer PHE jammu to intervene personally into the matter and take some initiatives to overcome the water crisis presently prevailing in sub division Mendhar. He also appealed to press into service the private tankers for supplying drinking water to locals until the tankers of PHE department are made functional by the authorities he added. |
