Kerosene oil shortage irks people | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, May 24: With fall in temperature due to fresh rainfall in plain areas of Kishtwar district and snowfall in mountains, the people of Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas are facing acute shortage of Kerosene Oil and fire wood. As per the details available with Early Times, people in large number were seen in search of Kerosene oil in government run depots while majority of them were found closed as people alleged that officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department in a nexus with Kerosene Oil depots were involved in black marketing of majority of the supply to Matador owners, trucks, private business establishments, Sumo's and other vehicles forcing the shortage of Kerosene Oil in Kishtwar District. People said that due to frequent electricity cuts, shortage of LPG and fire wood, they feel lot of inconvenience to cook food and performing other household chorus. The people urged up on the administration to tight the nose around the black marketers so that people of Kishtwar district will get due quota of Kerosene Oil every month particularly during winter when the requirement of this essential natural resource enhance many fold due to climatic conditions of the state. As per the details available with Early Times, there are more than 90 registered Kerosene Oil depots in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas, but hardly over a dozen among them are functional on ground. |
