PDD continues its drive against illegal connections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 10: As per the directives of higher authorities of Power Development Department, a rigorous checking was conducted in Bari Brahmana area under the supervision of AEE Electrical Er Rajeev Sharma. The drive was conducted to disconnect the illegal hookings and to unearth the concealed load used by the consumers. It is pertinent to mention that due to scorching heat wave conditions the electric system gets overloaded and load crosses the limit beyond the capacity of electric transformers and lines. The main focus of the drive was to educate the masses about the judicious use of electricity and use of power as per sanctioned load. An appeal to general public was also made to use ISI mark appliances, LED bulbs and avoid use of raw heaters and heating load. A large number of illegal hookings were removed and 20 kw load was regularized and fine of Rs 10000 was imposed on violators. Power development has advised people not to resort to illegal hooking and drawl of power in excess of sanctioned load in order to enable the department to maintain reliable power supply. |
