JAMMU, June 10: In collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau, Crime Branch, Jammu organized a day long capsule training programme on narcotics here today at Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground. The programme was divided in 4 interactive sessions with a view to sensitize the Officers and men of J&K Police with the issues related to the menace of narcotics in the society particularly keeping in view the susceptibility of youth to this threat and the role of Police in prevention and detection of the crime. Thrust was laid on enhancing investigative skills, plugging of loopholes for better conviction rates in such cases. About 250 Officers of the rank of GOs and NGOs from various wings of J&K Police, particularly from Jammu Zone and Crime Branch participated in the capsule training programme. The participants also included SHOs and newly recruited 90 Sub-Inspectors both male and female from Jammu Zone. Among other things that were discussed include the Reward Police advocated both by the United Nations and Narcotics Control Bureau for effectively dealing with such cases, as a morale booster. Moreover, in light of recent Supreme Court of India judgment with regard to search and seizure of narcotics, various aspects of investigation were discussed in length and breadth to sensitize the officers to the investigative skills. The senior officers of civil as police adminsitration who were present during the programme included K Vijay Kumar Advisor to Governor, IGP Jammu Zone, IGP Crime Headquarters J&K, DIG J/K Range, Jammu, SP Crime Branch, Jammu, SP South Jammu and SP Ops, Jammu. Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar Jha, Deputy Director General (Northern Region in Narcotics Control Bureau) New Delhi. |
