GoI awards BRTF for extraordinary work in Ladakh | | | Early Times Report Leh, July 5: The Government of India has awarded 50 Border Roads Task Force with the coveted 'Best Task Force Efficiency Shield' among all the Border Road Task Forces in the country for constructing motorable roads and bridges atop the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh region. 50 BRTF of Project Himank has been awarded for carrying out work in extremely harsh weather, limited working season and high altitudes in Ladakh near China border. The award was presented by the Minister of State for Home Shripad Yesso Naik T to Chief Engineer, Project Himank Brig Nitin K Sharma, VSM during an official ceremony held at GREF Centre. Among the other dignitaries present during the ceremony were Lt Gen Harpal Singh, AVSM. VSM, Director General Border Roads. Officials said that 50 BRTF has undertaken road construction activities in strategic Shyok valley near LAC with China and the strategic road link to Daulat Beg Oldie with works at altitude in excess of over 15000 feet. Lauding 50 Border Roads Task Force, the Chief Engineer of Project Himank Brig Nitin K Sharma said that this is an apt recognition of the efforts of officers, supervisor staff and troops deployed at one of the remotest and most inhospitable locations in the country to improve infrastructure development and road construction for enhancing the reach and capability of the armed forces. He said that this award is a tribute to the GREF and 50 BRTF who have given sacrifice during these construction activities. |
