| AAP-J&K reminds Governor of his commitment | | | Early Time Report
Jammu, July 7: The Aam Aadmi Party, J&K has reminded Satya Paul Malik, Governor of the State, of his promise to the people of the state that he would ensure formation of Block Dev Councils soon after conducting Panchayat elections. The release said that more than 7 months have passed since then but Governor Sahib might have forgot the promise which would be historic in the sense that Block. Development Councils & District Planning & Dev Boards have never been formed here in J&K state for last 70 years and it will never happen if so called popular government is put in place who are totally against decentralization of powers down up to grass root level into the hands of public representatives in a democratic manner. The members of AAP-J&K have appealed the Governor of the State to Constitute Block Dev Councils & District Dev. Boards, setting aside all amendments which have been made to weaken the basic unit of democracy- the Panchayats. They demanded suitable amendment in the latest amended state Panchayati Raj Act. One clause in the amended state constitution regarding block Development councils & District Planning & Development boards that was introduced by Congress & NC, says that these councilors & Chairmen would be only ladies who should necessarily be from SC/ST & followed the same by PDP & BJP. |
