Jammu, July 7: Educating the public about signs of cardiovascular diseases and the importance of calling emergency help is an important step in improving the chances for survival and minimizing the damage that can occur due to the onset of cardiovascular diseases said Dr. Sushil on the sidelines of a cardiac awareness camp that was conducted on the 4th Death anniversary of Late Swadesh Chopra ( former Director , Punjab Kesari Group) at Baba Diwan Mandir, RS Pura , Jammu . The camp was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma along with Dr Sushil and other prominent members of the Punjab Kesari Group who also endorsed the significance of the vibrant and educated civil society towards mitigating the menace of cardiovascular diseases in their respective areas. More than 300 people were screened, evaluated, diagnosed and free medicines were given as per the requirements. During the interaction with the people Dr Sushil stated that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death across the globe but many are unaware of their individual risk. We commonly observe that most people especially young irrespective of age , don't think they will have a stroke or heart attack. Nevertheless, it happens. We all come across score of individuals in our communities who have suffered either event, from mild coronary event or stroke to a permanent disabling or fatal one. |
