AJKLTF urges govt to announce transfer policy for teachers
7/11/2019 11:54:33 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 11: All Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) has urged the state government to come forward with a definite policy with regard to transfer of teachers and revision of DPC in J&K state.
Speaking to teachers here on Thursday, state president AJKLTF Devraj Thakur said that the state having no definite policy with regard to the transfer of government school teachers was leading to unnecessary confusion every year.
Teachers form the largest group among the state government employees. However, the successive governments have failed to implement a definite transfer policy. The teachers have been demanding for inter-zonal transfers to ensure better quality of education.
However, the government is yet to consider seriously the need for having a transfer policy for school teachers. There may be several hitches in introducing inter-zonal transfer for school teachers. But the government should make some forward move in consultation with teachers, officials and experts, he said.
The teachers in Kathua, Poonch, Jammu, Rajouri and Samba are agitating against the non-seriousness of the authorities to transfer them in time in suitable places.
Further we appeal to the Governor to take the appropriate actions and instructions for the Education department to fulfill the long pending demands of teaching community, he said.
He alleged that hundreds of General Line Teachers and Masters have been working in far flung areas for the past several years but the department has never initiated general transfers as per teachers Transfer Policy despite repeated representations from the general line teachers/masters in several districts.
Thakur also appealed the CEOs of Poonch and Kathua to fulfill the genuine grievances of the teaching community without any delay.
