Omar Abdullah condemns killing of NC leader's security guard | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 14: The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday condemned the killing of a cop posted as security guard for NC leader Peer Tauqeer Ahmad at Hiller area of Kokernag in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. "My colleague from Kokernag in South Kashmir Judge (Retd) Tauqeer Sb was just attacked by militants. While he escaped unhurt his security officer was hit & killed in the line of duty. I unreservedly condemn this dastardly attack & convey my condolences to the family of the deceased," Omar wrote on his twitter handle. In another tweet he said; "The security officer Selection Grade Constable Riyaz Ahmed Khan was posted with him for the last few years & was killed when 3 militants attacked a party convention. I've just spoken to Tauqeer Sb to convey my concern & my condolences for Riyaz's death." On Sunday evening, unknown gunmen fired upon the cop guarding NC leader. The injured cop was later evacuated to a nearby medical facility however; he succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. |
