Jammu, July 15: In order to manage bulk biodegradable wastes in the University, Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu today inaugurated the bio-composter-Foodie as one of the eco-friendly initiative of Green Campus Task Force, University of Jammu. Recognizing that the disposal of waste is a critical issue and underscored the need to manage waste responsibly through proper disposal, exhorted Prof Dhar. This is one of the green campus initiatives, said Prof Dhar and by installing bio-composter, organic waste (Food-waste and garden waste) can be recycled and used as fertilizer. Prof Dhar further said that the machine will curtail the University's contribution to municipal solid waste. Among others Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, Prof. Jasbir Singh, DSW, Prof. R. K. Rampal, Head & convener GCTF-JU, Prof. Anil K. Raina, former Head Environmental Sciences and Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Piyush Malaviya, Dr. Rakesh Atri, Ginny Dogra, Dy. Director IQAC, Aman Sharma, Health Officer, Ajmer Singh Arboriculture, Scholars, students and non-teaching staff of the department was also present on the occasion. |
