Citizens Forum demands separate Medical Supplies Corporation for Jammu | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 15: In a request to Governor Satya Pal Malik, Citizen's Forum demanded a separate JKMSCL for Jammu region. The drugs supplied to the Indian System of Medicine by the Jammu and Kashmir Medical supplies corporation Ltd have been found sub standard and poisonous and the officials have asked for stopping their usage, the forum said. R K Chadha the president of Citizen's Forum said that JKMSCL has miserably failed to provide quality medicines at competitive rates in time bound manner to the health institutions especially in the remote areas of Jammu. In this matter, Vigilance organization registered a FIR No. 22/2017P/S VOJ against former Principal of GMC and other Technical experts and supplier Theon Pharmaceutical Panchkula Haryana. Chadha said that drug list is being pruned from 850 drugs to 300, leaving poor people at the mercy of private vendors. The corporation is run by non-professionals, wasting time in inviting tenders and then issuing corrigendum without buying the drugs. This is height of corruption that instead of procuring Life Saving drugs, JKMSCL procured SUTURE material (Wound Stiching material) for Rs. 8 crores. The CAG report by raising a serious concern over the procurement process said that large scale procurements of medicine and equipments worth many crores were made on the basis of expired rate contracts/ outside health institutions and from local markets. The Forum also demanded that MRI, CT SCAN and ULTRA SOUND equipment should be provided at all district hospitals and Vaishno Devi Shrine Board with a very nominal Fee charged from the patients. |
